Intense takes the wraps off its first carbon hardtail 29er

Intense first got into carbon fiber construction with the introduction of the Carbine SL back in January, and now the company has released its first hardtail 29er, the Hard Eddie.

Weighing in at just over 1,000 grams, there is no way it’s going to be slowing you down. It’s versatile too, included are 135×10, 142×12 and singlespeed dropouts, so you can use just about any wheel system. It’s got all the usual modern features too, like a tapered headtube and press-fit 30 bottom bracket. The frame uses IS brake mounts while the fork has post mounts.

It is available in two colors: naked carbon or naked with red accents. With a 100mm fork, Intense says the head tube angle sits at 70 degrees and the seat tube at 72 degrees. Chainstays clock in at 17.3 inches in all three sizes.

If you’re looking to build a super-light race weapon, check out the matching carbon fork.

We hear there are more carbon Intense bikes to come, so stay tuned.
