“This year’s DC to Pittsburgh 250 Bike Tour is going to one huge celebration on bikes. You will retrace our nation’s history, starting with the Canal Age in DC and passing into the Industrial Age of Pittsburgh, with the most incredible scenery along the way. The ride finishes up with a huge trail dedication ceremony in McKeesport and a massive party and fireworks display for the grand reopening of Point State Park on October 4. Few cyclists have experienced anything of this magnitude before.” says Sean Brady, Assistant Executive Director of Venture Outdoors, the group that is organizing the 250 Bike Tour.
Venture Outdoors will guide cyclists on an 8 day ride along a 335 mile route, which consists of unpaved bike trails—either packed dirt or crushed limestone. The organizers will also take care of ground transportation, food and tech support. Registration includes motor coach transportation from Pittsburgh, PA to Washington, DC on September 27th (including bikes and gear). Personal gear will be shuttled to the new camp site each day.
The 250 Bike Tour is limited to the first 250 riders. A $785 early bird price expires on June 15th. After that date, and if there’s still room available, the full price for the trip will be $875. More information is available at www.bike250.org.
