For the fourth time, fat bike riders and advocates will meet to discuss land access issues, best practices for the emerging market, and ride some bikes at the Global Fat Bike Summit.

QBP, along with Fitzgerald’s Bicycles, Hoback Sports, Wyoming Pathways, and Mountain Bike the Tetons/IMBA are hosting the event January 23-25 at the Snow King Resort in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. There will be product displays, demos, clinics, rides and fat bike races.

The Friday summit will include training sessions and panel discussions about the rapidly evolving best practices for using fat bikes on public lands. Since big tires can take you places bikes could never go in winter before, new sets of rules, boundaries and expectations need to be hammered out to ensure land access. The questions about usage are similar to what regular mountain bikes faced in their infancy. The interactive training will include representatives from the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service as well as state and local governments.

Then the festivities will kick off Friday night with a banquet and night ride, and will continue all weekend with rides, demos and product clinics.

While QBP’s brands Salsa, Surly, Whisky Parts, and 45Nrth will be title sponsors, the event will seek additional brand sponsors to allow attendees to try different products and talk with product reps. Trek, Borealis, Paul Components, Race Face and Durango Bike Company are confirmed as sponsors and will be attending.

The Fat Bike Summit and Festival registration will also include discounted lodging options at Snow King Resort in Jackson and special skiing discounts at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

Manufacturers or companies wishing for more information about the event should contact Gary Sjoquist at [email protected].
